Journal

Hi everyone!  Once again, it’s been a minute since I’ve posted.  I feel like I’ve kept a lot of you up to date,  as my personal taxi 🚖 service drivers  (🥰), but for those of you out of the area, not so much.

So as of the end of April, my chemo and radiation treatment are complete 🎉.  Given my no driving mandate, it did feel a bit anti climactic, but it certainly was a milestone none the less.  Shout out to my girls nite friends, my co-worker group, high school friend group for the special mini celebrations/flowers 😘.

Over the last month I have started to feel significantly better.  My energy has increased, food is starting to taste normal and my muscles are much less achy.  However, sleep is still by best friend.

As far as the seizure activity goes….. no more since the Easter incident. The Neurologist felt that the cause (most likely) was the the extended trauma to my brain over the course of the last year and 1/2 (surgery, radiation, chemo), but there are no certain answers. I am on daily anti-seizure meds, and will be for at least 2 years. Assuming no seizure activity, at that point it will be up to me to decide if I want to stay on them, or discontinue them.  Given I have minimum side effects,  and I don’t like the prospect of another driving ban, at this point the plan is to stay on them.

So the driving ban. While VERY annoying, it has been doable, ALL due to my great support group here locally.  I have not missed a day of work or Dr appt.  It is amazing how a great group of friends can come together to transport me to and from work (30 minute commute) twice a day, 3 times a week.  I am forever grateful and blessed.  Sierra and Zoey have been great about getting me to the grocery store and local errands (sometimes requiring the bribe of a treat) but not always 😋.

6 months is the end date of my no driving sentence (Early October).  I’ve survived the first 2 months, only 4 to go.

So that’s it.  This journey has been, and continues to be a challenge.  I have never been good at asking for help, but if there is a purpose or meaning behind all the twists of the last year and 1/2, that is it.  Ask for Help.

Thanks to all my friends and supporters <3

❤️ Rita
