Welcome to Morty’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportOne year ago today, Richard and I were packing up the car full of food and supplies to goto the cabin with my kids and their friends.
They were all driving up a day or so after us.
This is also the day I got the call saying that my baby girl was burned. This is a day that changed our lives.
So much has happened this last year especially for Morty and Aidan. I will upload recent picture of my resilient strong kid who is now blossoming into a beautiful adult. I am in awe of her strength and determination through this last year. She has been working diligently on both her physical and mental healing. This journey never really ends for burn victims but life is becoming more routine now.
Morty and Aidan have recently settled into a small cottage in the woods of Ben Lomond with their two kittens. Morty is finishing up the classes virtually at College of Alameda to transfer to UC Santa Cruz in a semester or two. Aidan will be starting his degree in Bio-Molecular Engineering at UC Santa Cruz this fall semester. It's lovely to have them so close to my brother and his family, Richards sister and her family, and Aidans step-fathers sister and her family.
Burnniversary sounds like a celebratory day. We were all having dinner last night discussing last year and the term. We decided from now on it will be celebratory. Morty has worked so hard in her healing this last year and it shows. We want to celebrate her and her progress every year from now on. She has many more years of healing to go and burns never disappear so we will make this a day to remember our strong resilient Morty!
