Yesterday I notice mom had a hand written note left on her bedside. A complete stranger left mom an encouraging letter to help keep the faith. I posted a pic of the note so feel free to read ... So wonderful to see this simple act of kindness that brought a smile to moms face.
later on that evening we figured mom could actually talk back and forth with periscope friends. Marisol, Manny and the boys was able to speak to mom from Montana. Dad cracked the code to figure this cool function out. Mom was okay with a tablet for an hour or two then she just wanted her time to not be on display and just have some quite time alone.
The next morning moms case manager said that moms insurance was accepted to the care facility she wanted so this was wonderful news to relay to everyone. That care center was just down the block where aunt Janice was staying. At this time we were told by one doctor she was cleared to go. I wish this was so but news changed later on in the day.
Mom was taken for another chest exam because mom has been having a recurring fever. They cleared out any infections in the lungs so they were onto figuring out what else could be causing moms fevers. Around 6PM another doc said mom results came back and she has a blood clot on back of her knee. I guess the back of the knee vein is pretty big vein so they wanted to provide an aggressive approach. They outlined the following options...
1) give mom blood thinner ( this option is pretty much not an option since mom was bleeding before she started radiation)
2) surgery- add filter/screen to stop the clot from going to moms heart/lungs. This means that moms chest would have to be open and mom undergo anesthesia.
3) keep watch on moms clot with continuance ultra sounds to make sure it's not growing
4) not do anything at all
I'm thinking we should go with option 3 to help mom have more time to try and get her strength back. All siblings came to an agreement with this option as well.
This other Doctor mentioned mom wouldn't be transferring with a fever. So the care facility will have to be on hold for now.
