I must admit that it appears there has been some confusion between my cancer operation last year and the May 9, 2022 operation.
Let me attempt to clarify things: About 12 days or so after the May 9 (very successful) operation, we flew back to New Orleans.
The operation was 7 1/2 hours long. So my recuperation has been fairly long. It was approximately five weeks before the pain subsided. But even then I was told to “rest.“ So that’s essentially what I’ve been doing since the operation.
However, Ana and I went out to eat tonight. And, we plan to go see the new “Top Gun: Maverick” movie sometime next week.
Once more I’d like to thank everyone for their prayers and good wishes.
God Bless,
Milt

Dear Milton,
Praying you are recovering well. I’m sorry to say that I am confused—it’s Saturday, June 25, and I don’t know where you are or how you are!!!
With that being said, I am trusting that God is healing you!
Please know that you are in our thoughts, in our hearts, and in our prayers!
God’s Blessings on you and your dear Ana!

What an ordeal for you two. Thank God it is over. Hope your May 27 checkup will show good results and then you & Aña can go home safely. Warmest hugs.

This site is s bit confusing. Please forgive me if May 2022 posts get mixed in with the 2021 posts. I’ll try to keep things straight and in the proper order in the future.

As I believe I mentioned earlier, the surgeon told us that my ventral (Stomach) hernia was the largest he’s ever seen. We reported to the hospital it 5 AM on Monday the 9th of May. I was wheeled into the surgery room at 7 AM. Roughly 5 minutes later I was asleep. At 7 PM I woke up in a recovery Room and around 9:30 wheeled into my hospital room. The surgery itself took 7 1/2 hours.
The surgeon said that the surgery was a success. Cosmetically, which is the only thing that Ana and I can judge, I have to say that we agree. However the pain has been really intense.
I was discharged on Friday the 13th from the hospital. Yesterday, my pain was at a manageable level. Apparently because we have stayed at the same hotel multiple times coming to MD Anderson and the concierge and everyone likes Ana, she was able to arrange for an upgrade from the upgraded room that I had arranged. We are now quite comfortable to say the least.
Today I’ve had quite a turnaround with regard to my stomach pain level. It has reduced to quite a tolerable level. This is the first day I’ve felt like communicating. A lot of that might be because last night was the first night that I slept for nine hours.

I have five new pills to take at varying times. So I workedout a schedule for each and entered it into my iPhone calendar with alarm signals for each. I can’t imagine keeping track of them in any other manner.
Today I spoke with my long-time, true friend, Jim Mills. I told him just a few of the things that Ana has done. Just before we were to hang up, he told me to tell Ana she was a real trooper and that he loves her. Of course she is a real trooper, and then some!
We have an appointment with the doctor and his PA on the 27th. They’re going to check me out and see if they can remove the surgery drain & tell us when we might go home.
More after that appointment……

My surgery on Monday was a complete success. I just wanted to check in and tell everyone that. However, I’ll fill in the details when I’m not in so much pain. I’m in good hands. They are making me as comfortable as possible.
Cheers,
Milt

Thanks to all for your kind thoughts and prayers. We just found out that I’m to report at 5 am Monday morning for my operation. Dr. Santos, says it’s the largest ventral hernia he’s ever operated on. UGH! But with all the prayers, I’m confident that all will be well.

I took care of the last 3 things that I had to complete before the surgery this morning. Ana and I took the advice of a couple of locals and went to Cyclone Anaya’s for a GREAT Tex-Mex lunch. Next time you come to Houston, I strongly recommend it. Stay tuned …….
