Sign In to Show Your SupportHello to all you faithful supporters! Janet says it’s time I start telling some of my own story...5 months have passed since my surgery. I’ll be honest, I (fortunately) don’t remember much from the first 3 weeks. I have always thought of myself as someone that had a fair amount of physical strength and I’ve enjoyed working hard. That sure changed in the last number of months. It can be a struggle just to walk to my shop and fatigue is a daily battle. However I continue to see improvement.
Three weeks ago I had my feeding tube removed and what a nice feeling to be free of a 16 inch piece of tubing hanging from my belly. I had plenty of looks when I was walking around and people could see something under my shirt. Nobody said anything but they would stare. Now I have “2 belly buttons.” My appetite has been good and have been keeping my weight stable
A little over 2 weeks ago I had a “port” put to use for the chemo. My arms and veins were getting very irritated from the chemo The chemo infusion can be run faster with the port and there is no pain or burning.
I have just passed the halfway point with the chemo plan and no real major side effects except for fatigue. My blood counts have been staying good so am grateful for that. I have been getting weekly chemo infusions for 3 weeks then I get a week break. I am also taking a chemo pill during those 3 weeks. The doctors and staff at the cancer center have taken great care of me. Maybe I get a bit of special attention because Janet works there! 3 more months to go!
I want to thank each and everyone of you for your thoughts and prayers. You have been strength to me and my family each step of the way. I remember many nights lying in bed unable to sleep, knowing that so many were praying for me. What a blessing to have you partner with us on this journey. God has been good to me and I want to give Him the glory.
