Never posted an update from Matts most recent MRI/Visit.

So they do believe the cancer is in fact back. It has now grown bigger and crossed into the left side of his brain. He cannot have surgery for 2 reasons, with it crossing into the left part of his brain it is too dangerous and his head will never heal from the trial they had him on.

So they gave him one option, Lomustine. The drug they offer everyone even though they know it doesn't do anything.

Luckily Matt and I have been doing our own research/their job regarding a lot of different medications he can try. After asking about ALL the medications they proceeded to tell us "oh yes we have a lot of other medications we can try". Cool, why didn't you ever offer them until we brought them up.

We also told Duke at our last appointment that we were so incredibly unhappy and disappointed with the care they were giving Matt. I told Matt he needed to PLEASE speak up for himself and he did and I was so proud. We found out some concerning things that I still cannot believe regarding his care but that's for another day. It was nice to let them all know how we feel.

Matt did decide to try a new chemo. It will be for 21 days with a 7 day rest period. Just a pill at night. The first night was BAD, to the point Matt told me he didn't know how much more medication he was willing to try or take. However, he restarted the chemo last Thursday and it hasn't been that bad since. He is taking steroids due to the pressure he is having. He also has Avastin treatments to help with killing the cancer as well as the swelling, every 3 weeks.

Also, his MRI from April showed up VERY bright. The contrast from the MRI soaks into cancer cells and they "glow" and are super bright on the scan. His MRI from just a few weeks ago was very very gray. Which means the protocol he started 2 months ago could be working. As cancer cells die, they swell. In my opinion I think that is what is happening. Until we know for sure we have to attack this like it is cancer. It is still scary because this entire situation sucks. May has been really rough.
