This is Mary kicking cancer to the curb...
This month has been a celebration of all things! We've been overwhelmed and overjoyed at some of the things Mary has accomplished.
Four years ago, we weren't sure we'd make it to this point. Four years ago, when discussing her treatment plan, we were told she would need the maximum amount of radiation to her brain that they could possibly administer without killing her. They also told us to expect deficits, that her brain would suffer some damage, and that we needed to prepare ourselves for that. We heard the words but didn't want to believe them, and we just kept praying and moving through. So, telling you that we sat in amazement this graduation season would be an understatement. My message to all is that no matter what you're going through or how bad the prognosis is, never give up hope; after all, it's all we have.
We are so proud of Mary and her friends. This class is truly remarkable, and we have loved every minute of witnessing their success. We are grateful for these moments and all the others that lie ahead.
To see her recognized for the following blew our minds...To not be in person an entire year but still work on the days she felt good, in her bed, with barf bags on both sides. Not even kidding. Don't let anyone ever tell you that you can't do something.
