Welcome to Lynette’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportLynette had a visit with the nephrologist and we learned some things about her blood pressure and kidneys.
Apparently the blood pressure numbers we are looking for depend on age. That means the blood pressure goal for her age is a lower number. But she had a good (enough) reading at the appointment and her numbers at home were also acceptable, so she does not need a daily blood pressure medicine at this time. We will keep the emergency blood pressure medication on hand if she has extremely high readings or symptoms. We can now also check her blood pressure occasionally instead of constantly.
The nephrologist reviewed her ultrasound and saw that her kidneys could be better. The kind of tissue that does the filtering is thinner than it should be. Based on that and the blood work that was done in the hospital the doctor ordered new labs. Lynette’s thyroid numbers were not good in the hospital (which may have been contributing to the blood pressure problems), but are normal now. Unfortunately the measure of her kidney function is not good. Her kidney function is at 60%- it should be over 90%.
They will continue to monitor her kidneys. She will have more imaging in a few months and lab work in about 6 months (to see how her kidney function is trending).
Praise- Lynette’s blood pressure has improved and will not require daily medication!
Prayer request- Pray that her kidney function will improve.
