Time for another update. Radiation therapy itself went well but the aftermath was, frankly, horrible. LaDonna suffered radiation burns to her throat which made it very difficult to swallow to the point she could barely eat or drink. She also suffered radiation burns to her back which were so bad she actually had blisters. All of that is, fortunately, behind us.
She is having a bone scan tomorrow so hopefully we will get some clarity on how effective radiation went. She is doing fantastic with recovering from her hand surgery and will be back to golfing in a couple of weeks. She has a tendon tear in her right hip (unrelated to cancer) which is really bothering her and limiting her activity. She is having PT today to work on that and we are hoping she can heal without surgery.
In other news, we are moving to Rapid City! We will be moving on or about July 13th. I have taken a position at a firm in Rapid and we found a beautiful home in Piedmont, SD (about 25 miles from Rapid City). It has been somewhat stressful but it is all getting managed. We will miss so many people but are excited for the new adventure! On May 31st we met her new oncologist in Rapid City and were so impressed with both the doctor and the facility. It was a big weight off of both of us!
We will be back to Fargo regularly and will never forget all the love and support showered on us both. We will continue to update things and look forward to maintaining and strengthening relationships old and new!
