Psalm 55:22 “ Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; ….”

Ken had a CT Scan of his chest/abdomen & pelvis on Tuesday, June 10th.  We met with Dr. Altan, Thoracic doctor, Wednesday, June 11th to get results and discuss our further treatment plan.  Even with all the various cancers we’re in the midst of chasing right now, this was probably the most encouraging and informative meeting we’ve had!  The recently radiated lung tumor is minimally reduced, yet still there as expected.  Other lung nodules are either reduced or dissolved completely.

There are heart issues apparently caused by taking Tagrisso (strong targeted drug for lung cancer) that we hope to resolve soon.  We met Dr. Flautt, a cardiac-electrophysiologist in Oxford today, Thursday, June 13th.  He put Ken on a new medication to regulate heart rhythms.  He’ll keep a close watch on how well he tolerates the medication with frequent EKG’s and other tests.

In late August, Ken will have a procedure under anesthesia to implant a gel-like substance to protect him during proton radiation.  During our August trip to Houston, he’ll also have a CT with & without contrast to check for lung, pancreas, kidney and prostate tumors.  Therefore, we’ll have separate appointments with doctors in each of those fields to discuss progression and treatment options.  One week later, his proton simulation will be set up, with actual proton radiation beginning September 17. These treatments will be 5 days a week for at least 5 weeks.  However, the actual length of these treatments will be decided upon later.

At the present time, Ken is feeling better than he has in quite a while!  We’re hoping this will continue.  We returned home from Texas, Wednesday, 6/12, to SO much food provided by friends from church.  We are overwhelmed  with joy and gratitude for these precious friends and the encouragement and blessing they gave us as we continue on this journey!  God is SO very good!  “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of good things.”  Roman 10:15
With love,
Ken & Barbara
