It’s been a tumultuous few weeks, as they all seem to be these days. Karen is now in Hospice House where she has been for the last week. I am by her side 24/7, and am managing to get some work done here. On Tuesday, a decision was made by Karen’s brother and Hospice to keep Karen here indefinitely. We still do not want yo be here and are tryong to persuade them to let us go home where I think we would both be more comfortable.
Hospice House has determined that Karen needs 24 hour care now. The Hospice House staff are very kind and are doing what they can to make us comfortable. We are also now able to have Sophia the cat here, which is wonderful!
Karen continues to have her ups and downs. She remains alert most of the time, but generally speaks very little. I sing to her a lot, talk with her, share pictures with her, and remind her of the rich and wonderful times that we’ve had together. All of this is very healing to both of us. Just yesterday, while I was singing to her, she started singing too! It was a bit of a miracle, and I look forward to hopefully more of that from her.
As always, we welcome visitors. Karen is aware of everyone who comes to visit, and even though she may not always be able to acknowledge that, I know she deeply appreciates visits, as do I. We are in Room 11 at Whatcom Hospice House, which is near Sehome High School, at 2800 Douglas Avenue.
Thank you so much for the wonderful support and kindness you all continue to show!!
Larry.
