Welcome to Jennay’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportIt has been just over a year since our last post, and for good reason. Jennay is cancer free and is strong and thriving—and so is our family. In November, Jennay decided to take a hiatus from work, to focus on Gabe, our family and her health. It has been wonderful for all of us.
And now, a year after Jennay’s last chemo treatment (celebratory evidence attached), we are happy to say that she just completed another (and hopefully final) reconstructive surgery. The procedure was done to address some discomfort and issues that arose from her initial surgery and radiation treatment. This week Jennay, her mother Mary and I traveled to New Orleans to the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery—a unique, world-class center for surgically addressing the effects of breast cancer and associated treatments. Jennay was treated by Dr. Frank Dellacroce and his team—and we could not be more impressed by their expertise, acumen, facility and kindness. (We were also able to enjoy a bit of the incredible food, drink, music and culture of NOLA).
The surgery went smoothly and Jennay is already feeling relief from some of her radiation-induced pain. Because the procedure was relatively limited, her recovery should go quickly; we are so relieved and happy! And her new T-shirt (see photo) says it all!
Mary and I will be here with Jennay until Saturday, and then friends will step in to help Jennay until she returns to Omaha next week. Other friends and family are helping with Gabey and Goldbug while we are away. Thanks to Mary and all those who have helped lighten the burden of this trip and surgery—we love you (and all of you who send support to Jennay and our family).
We are doing wonderfully, but I ask that you keep Jennay in your prayers, along with all other cancer survivors (and cancer victims).
TOGETHER WE CONTINUE TO WIN!
