Here's a big update on grandpa-I took a call from his hospital doctor this morning and he said that they have identified E. coli in his bloodstream. It's basically a blood infection.(related to sepsis). He said that it is an infection that initially would've started in the urinary tract and if it's not addressed appropriately it can eventually work its way into the bloodstream. His urine tests are all coming back normal so there is no problem in the kidney and bladder area as far as that's concerned. But with this latest development and the excruciating pain that Grandpa has been in,He suspects that the infection is somewhere in his back or backside and so they are doing a CT scan today of his back and the CT can't scan will show where the blood infection is and if it's in his back. They are treating it with an antibiotic the same anabiotic they started two days ago and he said it should be effective for this E. coli infection.
This could answer way dad has been in so much pain over the last few days. Or it could be unrelated to the pain we just don't know yet. But the good news is they're trying to identify the source of his pain and at the same time address this blood infection. Also the blood infection may have something to do with his confusion over the last few days because it can cause some of that so we don't know what is from the infection and what is from the brain bleed. But it appears it's two separate things. Robert and I are on our way to the hospital right now. We will update further once we get there and evaluate where things are at. Love to all! Happy weekend!
