“The Aroma of a Summer Rain”

            (A Chiasma Poem)

Searing summer temperatures 

    Dry ground needing moisture

       Showers on hot pavement 

           Effervescent scent

                  PETRICHOR 

            Wafting earthiness

         Like steam from a pot

    Cracked earth absorbs the rain

Heated climate seems oven- like

(Can’t you just smell it?)

“Matthew 14: 28-31”

Across the sea they

Toiled against the wind and waves 

Fearful for their lives

Jesus came walking 

Above the troubled sea to

Take them safe to shore 

Amazed, they worshipped 

“Truly, You’re the Son of God!”

Our Lord and Savior!

This our confidence:

Christ bears us o’er life’s troubles—

His glory fulfilled!
