Don is progressing well... walking up and down stairs, doing exercises especially for his legs yet the left leg is still challenged although it is improving. He continues to depend on a walker and has a goal of transitioning to a cane in 2-3 weeks. Steady sleep alludes him but naps are great. He always was a napper.
When the brain is wounded it can take 6 months to 2 years to recover. Usually however they tell us that what you get back by six months is often the new normal. So, Don is working hard to get as much back as possible. Just resting doesn't bring it back, one must move and exercise to reconnect the brain. The heart is often a culprit causing strokes and so today he had a heart monitor attached as one more test to help determine how to prevent strokes in the future.
Because the brain is still wounded, Don finds that too much stimulus is exhausting. Phone calls are fine with about a 5 minute limit. We are moving in a positive direction and continue to cherish your concern and prayers.
Blessings to all
