Welcome to David’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportDavid 's sister will be visiting with us starting tomorrow until Saturday. David has made the decision that after she leaves he plans to stop eating and drinking. It was not any easy one to make, but how he feels each day has not improved, and has in fact deteriorated, since going off of the latest treatment and he just wants it to end.
Jonathan will arrive on Sunday and stay with us. Steve and his family are already here with us in Newberg. We don't know the exact time frame, of course, but generally this follows a pattern of approximately 10 or so days. His memorial service will likely be sometime around the end of June.
If I am sounding matter of fact, please know that that is not the case. Much prayer, tears, contemplation, and talking has gone into this decision. And it is with great sadness that this is the place in his journey that we have reached. But David has decided that he no longer has a quality of life that is worth continuing. And I am in full support of his decision. Endings are always hard and painful no matter how they come. I hope you will join me in praying that his will be restful, peaceful, and blessed.
You all have been so kind and generous with your notes to him via this site and Facebook. And with your phone calls and. cards. We cannot thank you enough for keeping us in your prayers and loving on us.
Jennie and Andrew, Muriel and Karl, Philip, Chris and Alan, cousins and aunts and uncles, and a myriad of friends, plus a great cloud of other witnesses have all gone before and contributed to the powerful heritage he has lived into. And he will leave a significant legacy of his own with us when he leaves.
In the end, we are all in the process of walking each other home. May we do it well.
Blessings,
Carol and David
