Our hearts are broken too. Your dad brought so much to our NCC community while he was here. The way he emphasized the importance of communion on a weekly basis was so important and the way he presented it to us. His example of the “Simple Way of the Cross”.
He allowed us to experience cancer in a way that showed us the agony and the best of the journey. His faith, steadfastness, and his love of our Lord Jesus Christ was a powerful example to all of us.
We saw how this played out in your life too. Thank you for your powerful example.
We shall always be indebted to him and your family.

I grieve with you. I am thankful for your dad and his life. I had coffee with him two times and he helped me as I was struggling with issues at another church. I am grateful for his pastoral gift and care. He is a loving and caring man. I am so thankful to have met him. All my best to you and your family.

Thank you for letting me be a part of this difficult journey. I did not know your Dad well ...I am only an occasional attender at Newport, but received so much both from the services I attended where your Dad pastored and from reading the amazing strength and faith in his journals. Your Dad blessed me in so many ways and I am so sorry for your deep loss. What a wonderful human being.....

Prayers for peace....Praise God for His promise for comfort for those who mourn. What he taught me with my own loss is that, he does not take away the pain of the grief (our Lord jesus wept with grief over lazarus death). "Cum" means "with" and "fort" means strength. His promise to those who grieve is to be able to carry on with life without your loved one, "with strength". And that I can say, He has been faithful! And I know He will be faithful to all of you as well! His plan is still good, to give you future and hope! Hallelujah! Love to all!

Dear Beck Family. Even though it is joyful that Dave is NOT in any more pain and is with our Lord and Savior, we as humans grieve his loss and my prayers are with you all for such a time as this. I met Dave at Kings Harbor Church in about 2007 or 2008 and thought so much of him and his friendly and warm personality, then when he left to pastor his own church it was a sad day but a happy day for his journey to further the Kingdom. I moved to Vermont in 2011, and by that time I believe you all were in Oregon (maybe) and I sent your family a very, very large container of "Vermont" Maple Syrup. Dave was so grateful and surprised to receive the volume of syrup. It made me laugh at his comments. Then on to Washington where my prayers continued for his ministry and then the C word which is hard for me to say because I took care of my dad at my home in 1997, when I still lived in California when he was dying of the C word and I was with him when he took his last breath in my home and also felt the joy knowing he was with our Lord and grieved for his loss. I so understand the battle that's taken place throughout the months and my prayers were always with Dave and the family. I admired his courage, his faith, his honesty and transparency and he will be surely missed by all of you, and by all who knew this man of God who never wavered in his faith and trust in our Lord. My prayers continue for all of you left behind but knowing we'll all be together in His Kingdom eternally. Much love to you all.

To Lauren and Dave’s entire family. I’m very saddened to here this news. I was a fraternity pledge brother of David’s at Ball State. He has been in my prayers since he first posted on Caring Bridge. My prayers will now be for you Lauren and the rest of your family as you deal with this difficult time. I have not seen David in years, but he will truly be missed by everyone that knew him in the fraternity. Sigma Nu Brotherhood for Life. Rest In Peace my brother.
