Journal

We want to apologise for the delayed update! Since we have been here there has been so many ups and downs that it is incredibly hard to put into words. One day will be great and the next not so much. They have done a few more things since our last post. After the leg surgery he ran some fever and was obviously feeling terrible so it was a bit of a set back. For a good cause though. Within a couple days he was better. The leg is healing well and they are starting to bend the the knee and get it moving in PT. A couple weeks ago a procedure was done around the eye to repair the orbital bone(under the eye) they ended up putting in a tiny plate because the bone was pretty crushed. This helps support the eyeball itself and protects his vision. Once again he ran fever and was sickly for a couple days. He also developed a blood clot in his other leg and was placed on blood thinners. Intially the discharge date was tomorrow. They ended up pushing that back. Once again he began to run fever last week. The white blood scale was also high which means there was infection somewhere. They did test after test and scan after scan. Nothing showed but the antibiotics they started have treated whatever it may have been. No more fever and white blood cell count is back to normal(PTL). Our new discharge date was the 3rd. but that once again has changed and we don't even have a new one yet. In the process of running all those tests they noticed more fluid on the brain( likely due to the blood thinners) so yesterday they put in a stint in the leg to take care of the clot. The neurologist and all the doctors have decided they are going to go ahead and drain that fluid and relieve some pressure. Next Friday is when this will happen. This procedure will allow more for healing and can help his progrss so really it needs to be done. He is considered in a minimally conscious state which is ALMOST enough for rehab. Pray that all goes well and this procedure will help speed things up for him. Pray for God to continue keeping him strong as he is literally fighting for his life back everyday. Things change here so quickly so please don't hesitate to call for a more accurate or daily update. It's so so hard to try to keep everyone in the loop with the constant changes. We love you all
