In May of 2016 a man in a white coat stood at the foot of my hospital bed and told me I had stage IV colon cancer. Listening to him speak I was numb as he spoke of "going home and getting my affairs in order." As he spoke time stood still and sped up all in the same moment.
Within a day I was having surgery to install my port. God bless the individual who dreamed up that piece of technology. A day latter I was meeting my oncologist and nursing team for the first time. Two days later we started my first chemo treatment.
My journey is not unlike those of many others. While each cancer journey is unique there are common threads which weave their way through my story. Over the past three years I have taken to sharing some of that story in hopes that others may find hope, encouragement, and strength for whatever dark season they may be going through. I believe that God has and can redeem even the most desperate of circumstances for good...if only we have the eyes to see.
In
The Journey Continues: Finding Joy Amidst Life's Struggles I share the often daily struggle to find help for the day and hope for tomorrow. As caregiver, my wife Nancy, shares some of her experiences of the journey we travel together. I pray it may be a help and an encouragement to others.
