May 24th, 2022, the day before.
The day before it all happened
The day before our kids were safe and untouched by tragedy.
The day before where a game of basketball was played with his friends.
The day before where life was simple, untouched by pain and suffering.
The day before where we had no idea what insurance struggles meant or medical decisions had to be made.
The day before where quality of life meant a good night's sleep or a simple cup of coffee.
The day before where we all sat at the same kitchen table and ate our last meal together.
The day before where I last heard your voice & so took for granted.
The day before where your cell phone was full of friends and life.
The day before where your Xbox was played.
The day before I tucked my 3 kids into their beds one last time.
The day before we really knew what being touched by prayers felt like.
The day before we were just another family.
The day before our lives changed forever.....
May 24th will always be a hard one for me, it's a day I wonder if I enjoyed enough, loved hard enough, and made the most of it...a day before it all happened for us all, the last day Carson was able to be the him we always knew....1 day forever etched in our hearts before it all was something different.
