Welcome to Calvin’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportThank you so much for all your love and support over the past few months. Below you can watch a video we made to remember Calvin, and I have also included a poem I wrote, both of which we shared at his Memorial Service.
Calvin
I would have loved to watch you grow
To crawl on the wood floors, bruised knees, chubby fingers
To run wild in the yard, fearing you’ll disturb our neighbors
To scold you when you leave your Legos out
To hold you when your tears flow out
To giggle when you dance after dinner
To teach you that you need a Savior
To watch you be loved by those who share your name
Held, teased, cherished—such fame!
I would have taught you how to water ski, to say I’m sorry, to sing in tune.
I would have read to you about the earth, the stars, and the first man on the moon.
I would have cried as I dropped you off at school.
I would have watched you become a man, like your daddy, strong and kind.
I would have told you of the man who died, crucified.
I would have prayed for your future bride.
I would have loved to see you grown, known, full future unknown.
I would have watched you be transformed by His Word
Love undeserved
Power displayed through weakness, meekness.
I would have looked into your clear blue eyes and told you that I loved you.
I would have loved you well.
But you see Him and are made whole.
There is no lack for you.
No defects.
No broken genes, bent bones.
No suffering or shame.
No pain.
No gasps for air, despair.
Perfectly Loved within and without.
Whole.
No doubt.
Fully known by the King on his rightful throne.
Surrender.
You are a gift.
Each breath is given, not expected.
We need a Savior,
One for our sakes rejected.
Your Son a sacrificial gift so mine might live
Not here but there
Forever.
