He did it!
3 1/2 years
Over 360 hospital days/nights
60 plus surgical procedures
and more blood transfusions than we can count!
Maybe the thing we are most proud of is that he did it without grumbling or complaining, while saying thank you to the doctors and nurses who worked so hard to keep him alive, while singing praise songs to Jesus with his guitar, and bringing jokes and riddles to make people laugh during the worst of days for so many. He is a remarkable young man.
We recognize how very blessed we are that Caleb is alive. There were so many days and weeks and months when we had no idea if he would live or die. We recognize that there are many children at his age and stage that do not live through this type of cancer. We recognize there were so many miracles along the way that kept him alive, and because he is still here with us, God has a great purpose for his life.
We are truly amazed by all of you. By your love, by your support day after day...week after week....month after month....year after year. May God give to you ten fold more than you have given to us and may you know what a very special place you will always hold in our hearts.
Thank you.
Thank you God.
Thank you Doctors and Nurses and Rady Children's Hospital Staff.
Thank you family and friends and prayer warriors and encouragers and strangers who walked beside us in this journey.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Our youngest three children told me last week they don't remember what life was like before Caleb was sick. We are now entering a new phase of life for our family and we are so thankful.
Thank you for helping us get here.
We love each of you, The Winter Family
Moving forward: Caleb will continue to go to the hospital every two to four weeks for testing and monitoring to ensure the cancer stays away. We just finished his first test and his numbers are improving so all things are looking great so far! We were so relieved after the first test, we felt confident writing this letter and finally sharing the good news!
