Welcome to Ian’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportToday was Ian’s 2 year follow up from his last open heart surgery (the Fontan). Life has been pretty good, so we were not really concerned - at this point these are pretty routine and just to check all is continuing well. Ian has grown and developed so much this last year, and he handled the echo really well despite his fear. The EKG and blood pressure were much harder but we scraped through. 🫣 Overall his cardiologist was very pleased with what they saw on the imaging. He said it was Ian’s best echo ever!
On the way out after meeting with the Dr, we did have one more “trial” to get through - a blood draw for some lab work. Again a big trauma point (I mean , who likes to be poked?!) but thankfully we had some numbing cream and a very skilled tech. And Ian got a big cookie at the coffee shop before we headed home.
Only possible concern point is that that lab work shows elevated liver enzymes across all tests. We know that eventually Ian’s Fontan circulation will begin damaging his liver, but we didn’t really expect to see possible signs so soon? This may be something we will have to have another conversation with his doctor about in the coming days.
But for today we are just enjoying a beautiful summer day and weekend together as a family. 😊
