Sweet Asher has been doing relatively well. He’s had a few setbacks though. He got a little infection that thankfully was localized just to his eye so they are treating with antibiotic eye drops. And he has been having issue with spitting up which the doctor thinks is because of all the pressure in his head from fluid build up. He will have surgery June 22nd to have a reservoir placed for the nurses and doctors to have an easy access to manually drain the fluid from his brain as needed. It will be a little catheter that goes into his brain ventricles and out to the top of his head. It will be attached to a little “reservoir” that goes under his scalp but on top of his skull. The fluid will drain into the reservoir and the nurses and doctors will drain it from there. Asher has moved from the Small Baby Unit into another little area of the nicu for bigger more stable babies. He has a smaller canula now for respiratory support. He will be 3 months old next week. Asher is 2 lbs 11 oz now. He is growing up and getting so big. He likes to be held and loves his pacifier! Starting to practice breastfeeding is in the near future as well. Lots of big things happening and lots of big things to come! God is so so good and we are so thankful to him for our little boy!
