Asher is now home!

After six grueling weeks, the Stontz Family Band is finally back together! And boy, having Asher home this past week has been like a fresh breath of crisp and clean mountain air from the Swiss Alps. It’s been invigorating, not just for our tribe, but mostly for Asher himself. He has been much more motivated to play with his brothers and sisters and walk independently, which is wonderful! He even rode his scooter around our driveway yesterday! [See the attached picture]

Our last post indicated that Asher really wanted a big “welcome home” sign... and boy, did he get one! Believe it or not, my daughter’s 4th grade class–under the initiative and direction of her wonderfully phenomenal teacher, Mrs. Wonders–made a whopping 4’ x 8’ sign with individualized portions from every student in that 4th grade class! [See the attached picture]

Asher was grinning from ear to ear when he saw that sign.

And he is grinning so much more now.

I’m actually able to tickle him and hear him belly laugh again!

That is music to a dad’s ears.

The sound of your own children laughing is one of life’s greatest treasures.

NEXT STEPS… TREATMENT

Due to the aggressive nature of these medulloblastoma tumors, we need to continue to pray that any remaining cancer is eradicated from Asher’s body!

And treatment has begun on some levels for Asher.

To help heal Asher’s body and prepare him for treatment, Nicole and I have already begun our homeopathic treatment by feeding Asher (through his G-tube) the healthiest, most nutrient dense smoothies as possible with as many cancer fighting foods and supplements as possible.

Nicole and I have been meeting with the oncology team at Children’s and exploring all options for treatment for Asher, both conventional and non-conventional. We will be needing to finalize our decisions for where to treat Asher and what his treatment protocol and regiment will be.

Our desire is to avoid chemo and radiation (if possible) and take a naturopathic approach.

Please continue to pray that God leads and directs the difficult decisions we are having to make.

We are doing what we can in the natural to help Asher fight any remaining cancer cells…

… all while continuing to contend for a supernatural and creative miracle in his body!

in the beautiful grace of God,

                Joey & Nicole
