On this day, 2 years ago, I had just been discharged from the Shepherd Center. I was a little bit of a loose cannon, and I can't imagine my parents' terror of taking me home without a nurse. I was going to daily therapies to try my best to get better. No, I will never get 100% better because you can never heal yourself of a brain injury. That simple fact of never being able to fully heal has taken hundreds of counseling sessions for me to be ok with hearing.
I am so thankful, and proud, that I was able to return to school so quickly. Not only was I able to continue duel enrollment and take all of my classes at the nearby college, but I successfully passed all of my courses and even received a few A's. Let's not forget the most important/unbelievable part- I'm graduating high school on Saturday! My original 2015 class is now starting their sophomore year of college, but thanks to duel enrollment, so am I!
This experience has been 120% humbling, and it has changed my life goals to helping others because what goes around comes around :) I am so, so very blessed that I am recovering so fortunately. I couldn't be doing so well if it was without all of your love, prayers, and dedication. I thank all of you, including the people who I do not know personally, for the abundance of support and devotion to following my CaringBridge page. I am about to begin the next chapter of my life- the story isn't over yet!
