Will Bennett Will Bennett's Journey

Hello our friends and family...
On Tuesday, January 9, 2018, our life was turned upside down and shaken hard. We learned that morning that Will had a mass on his pancreas that the doctor was fairly certain was cancer. The story of our travels on this unwanted journey will continue in the next and future posts.  I have managed to keep so many family and friends updated over the past months with texts, calls and email. Because Will is scheduled for Whipple surgery on July 2, I now find I not only need to find a way to provide quick updates but also to let so many of our friends who haven't yet heard about Will's story know of it. Will and I have been amazed and blessed by how God has made so clear all of our decisions and brought so many people into our lives to support us spiritually, physically and emotionally.  Will retired in 2014 and I retired in 2015.  In February 2016, we left our family and friends in Fort Lauderdale to move about 4 1/2 hours north to Ponte Vedra, Florida.  We had no idea at the time of our move that within two years we would be facing this most difficult trial of our lives.  But, God has so clearly shown us that what we thought was a place to relax and have some fun was actually the place we needed to be for the outstanding medical care that Will was going to need.  God knew...we did not.  The many people that we have met on this journey have led to connections to others across the country and here in Ponte Vedra that have walked this walk and provided us so much encouragement.  We have so many people praying for us, even those that have never met us, that we are just overwhelmed with gratitude.  My next post will be a short summary of Will's journey that has finally brought him to the surgery needed to cure him of the pancreas monster.  Yes, it is a monster and the surgery is a beast of its own....but we know there is no monster, no beast, no trial that is too big for our God.  We are so very thankful for the grace of God that gave us a Savior, Jesus Christ, who takes this burden and gives us peace when we let go. Please know that each and everyone of you are welcome to text or email.  I am pretty good at responding quickly but given the situation, I might be a bit delayed.  I also welcome your calls but would ask that you text me before calling just to make sure it is a good time to call since I often can't talk if I am taking care of Will or waiting for a call from a doctor.  My cell is 954-260-1995 and my email is smmbennett@aol.com.  I know many of you will ask how you can help us...Prayer is what we need most...please pray for Will's healing from the surgery, defeat of the pancreas monster and for God to give me the strength to be the wife and caregiver Will needs me to be at this time.  We love you and we we want to know how we can pray for you so please do keep on touch. Please feel free to share this site and Will's story with anyone you choose.  We send our love....Will and Sherry
