On the afternoon of Sunday, October 16, 2016, Werner's wife and young son found him lying on the bathroom floor. He could barely open his eyes and could not speak. Several times he tried to get up, but would slump back to the floor as if the effort were exhausting. His wife then called 911. EMS personnel arrived quickly. They transported him to the ER, where a CT scan revealed a blood clot on the left side of his brain. He was then flown to Inova Fairfax where they were able to remove the clot. He was placed in their neuroscience ICU. They say the recovery is different for everyone. Now we watch and wait to see what his recovery looks like.
