Wayne Bunting

I am using this journal to keep our friends and family updated on Wayne's condition.  Wayne had a CT scan on March 7 due to some digestive problems he had been experiencing for several weeks.  A liver biopsy on March 16th confirmed the diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer.  While working on getting a port implanted and arranging to see an oncologist at Vanderbilt, Wayne suffered multiple pulmonary embolism and was hospitalized in Franklin 5 days starting March 23.  We went home to rest and gain strength to qualify for chemotherapy treatment scheduled to begin April 12.  Every day Wayne could eat and drink less and less, till symptoms necessitated a trip to the ER on April 7th.  We were transferred to Vanderbilt with severe dehydration and kidney damage.  There, he was diagnosed with renal failure, which was untreatable because of the cancer.  Wayne accepted that the Lord was calling him home, and his greatest wish then was to pass away at home.  We were released home into hospice care on Wednesday, April 11th.   Now we just want to make him comfortable and make his quality of life the best that it can be.
