Vivienne Clare Flynn was born on February 3, 2020 with a heart defect called complete balanced AV canal. This means there is a hole between the top two chambers and a hole between the bottom two chambers of the heart. Additionally, the valves that separate the top and bottom chambers of the heart are fused instead of being separate. Because of these holes deoxygenated and oxygenated blood can mix. Vivienne will require open heart surgery to close the holes and separate the valves. Surgery typically takes place at 3-6 months of age. This page will be used to provide updates leading up to and after Vivienne’s surgery.
