Well here we are. Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer. This is entirely unreal and also too real. But we are buckled up for this ride with no idea how we got here or where we are going! Stage IV adenocarcinoma of the lung. This type of cancer is commonly diagnosed in women who don't smoke, which mom doesn't. Also unfortunately, for the majority of patients, it typically doesn't present with any symptoms until it has spread. Which is also true in Mom's case. There are metastes to her adrenal glands, liver, brain, and bones. We have already heard from many people concerned about her and appreciate all the support and caring words. Buckle up everyone, apparently cancer is a journey! And we are hopeful for the longest journey ever known!
