Hello friends!   We have created this site as a way to help update all the people who are praying and caring for the Filan family.     They are so grateful for the love and support they have been shown and struggle to express or respond to all and wanted to make sure EVERYONE of you know how much they appreciate and need continued prayer and support.   The stress and exhaustion that comes with having to repeat over and over to everyone that they care about what is happening has become overwhelming since everyday may have some changes and challenges.    I am starting this page for a place to share all updates.   Hoping this takes pressure off everyone.   Tiffani loves company but would rather just visit than to have to focus on the “hard stuff” with each person that comes in.   Some days she may want to chat about it and other she won’t .   Our hope is that this will allow us all to be “in the know” so we can just come love and be silly with her as we visit!   So let me share a bit of her story for anyone who may not know them personally.     Feel free to share this site~ the more prayer behind her the better!!!    God is good and will be there for the Filan’s through this.  

 

November 10, 2017 Tiffani went through her first craniotomy to remove a tumor the size of a golf ball.    She had symptoms leading up to this for little over a week, thinking she had a virus at first.  She ultimately went to the ER at Rush and the MRI revealed a mass that was removed the following day.    A week later she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiforme stage 4.  She went through some rehab to be released home for recovery in just over a week.    She had a set back soon after with a seizure and returned to Rush for surgery to place a shunt.   This relieved the fluid pressure and  in less than 24 hours returned home to continue to recover.  (yep!!   Rock star!!   Who leaves the hospital that quick after surgery on your brain?!!!   She is so strong).   

 

She started chemo and radiation treatments just before the holidays.    She was not feeling great and by the New Year, was very weak and losing balance again.   She returned to the ER on Jan.  2 and on the 4th had a second Craniotomy (3rd surgery) to remove a tumor that had grown back to the size of a lemon.   The doctors had prepared for the risk of left side paralysis and left side blindness and possible personality changes from the surgery.  She came out of the surgery with flying colors!!!    No deficiency past what she had already incurred after surgery #1(left side weakness and loss of left peripheral vision) and they removed nearly all of the tumor.    Praise God!!    Within days she was released to recover at home once again. 

The plan as of now is to be fitted for her radiation mask again Friday  Jan. 12th and restart treatment sometime the following week (will update as it all comes together).    

 

Again thank you for following this journey and praying for the whole family.   Tiffani is married to her soulmate and true love Mike and they have a son and daughter who are in 5th grade (yes, twins 😊) Peyton and Gavin.    She has a large family network around her that love and support her and will be beside her every step of the way as she heals her body.   This is a tough diagnosis and journey she has ahead so please, share her page to have as many people supporting and lifting this family up in prayer.
