My cancer journey began with a trip to the ER on December 7th after nearly passing out at school. I ended up in the hospital due to low hemoglobin (6.7). I received 2 units of blood and 3 bags of iron to combat the anemia. The doctors chose to do an EGD to look for the source of the bleeding, and in doing the test a 1-inch tumor was discovered between my esophagus and stomach. The doctor took about 8 biopsies of the tumor during the EGD, and felt it was suspicious enough to order a CT scan.

The CT scan showed multiple lesions on my liver (the largest being 5cm) and one on my vertebrae. The doctors identified this as cancer and ordered a PET scan to determine the type of cancer, and also to stage the cancer. The results of the PET scan confirmed that I have stage 4 adenocarcinoma, and the cancer is in my stomach, esophagus, and liver. I will be receiving bi-weekly chemo treatments, and will also go home after each treatment with another chemo drug that will be administered via a pump for 48 hours after each treatment.

My journey will be challenging, but I am resting in the comfort of knowing that God is in complete control of this journey, and that He will carry me through each step of the way. Paul, Caleb, Clancey, and I just simply ask that you join with us in praying for healing, and for God’s glory to be constantly revealed as we travel this path as a family.
