Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

So my dad is not doing great. He fell down last night and split his head open on the top. We took him to ER and they stapled his head and then started to address why he has been falling, disoriented, and looking jaundiced. After several blood test we found that his sodium levels last night were at 100 they are  supposed to be 135. He was admitted to Gundersen Health Systems to monitor and increase the sodium levels which are at a critical level right now and can lead to seizures and death. They can only raise the levels 8 points a day, any more than that can lead to neurological problems. This morning Dad's sodium count had gone up to 109.  That is good but still critical.  We found that his hemoglobin count is at 7.5 which is low and his medical team was concerned about internal bleeding but that number has stabilized so they are watching that.  He has not been administered any meds to help ease the alcohol detox symptoms as his symptoms are at 4 and need to be at 8.  As we left this evening he had eaten a small amount and was resting comfortably. The road from here is unknown.  All we can do is pray that the sodium levels continue to increase to healthier levels and that the detoxification and withdraw process can be somewhat managed. Thank you family and friends for the continued and unjudgemental love and support you have shown us.
