The Background On 8/11/17, I went in for a routine mammogram. I was called back for more films and an ultrasound. On 9/7, I went in for an ultrasound biopsy to check a "likely benign" lump. On 9/11, we got the results -- ductal invasive carcinoma, Stage 1, grade 3, positive for HER2 marker in the left breast.
Next came an MRI to check over everything in both breasts. Right breast is clear, but another area of concern in the left breast.
Treatment plan is chemo, lumpectomy and radiation. And so begins the marathon that is necessary to beat this.
