In January 2017, Miriam was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma that had developed in her neck. Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma begins in cells called the lymphocytes which play a huge role in the body's immune system. It is common for those with Lupus, like Miriam, to develop Lymphoma. She is in stage 3 of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma because the cancer has been discovered both above and below her diaphragm and is considered to be "large cell" meaning that it can be more aggressive but is easier to attack and be destroyed. In mid-February Miriam will begin R-CHOP chemotherapy once every three weeks.
Despite the news of hearing the "C-word" she continues to look to Jesus, trusting Him with her life and excited about the opportunities that she will have to share how good He is during this experience. She continues to be a godly woman that we all look up to and hopes to be able to be as active as possible through this journey. She is a positive soul but she needs encouragement and a community around her supporting her during this journey! Please join us as "Team Miriam" as we lift her up in prayers, encourage her and help her beat this lymphoma!
We are encouraged that the Lord is in control of all things and that we can rest in this promise: "For it is you who light my lamp; the LORD my God lightens my darkness. For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God- his way is perfect, the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him."-- Psalm 18:28-30.
