DEBRIEF:

Ann and Taylor are safe and in good hands for medical care after a very serious car accident Saturday, April 15th, 8:15PM @ Highway 203 (Duvall). Ann has broken first rib on right with collarbone pain and external chest pain (typical of first rib injuries), severe bruising and inflammation from neck to both sprained ankles. CAT Scan, EKG and X-rays ruled out all other concerns, fractures or injuries. Ann was discharged on Sunday morning with a pain management plan.

Taylor in serious condition, was  quickly transported by ambulance from Evergreen Hospital ER in Kirkland, to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for surgery to repair intestinal injuries, most likely caused by impact pressure from seatbelt.  He also has a small collapsed left lung that needs to be watched, so he’ll be in the hospital recovering this week. His liver, spleen & kidneys are all intact,  which is one reason why the doctor is confident that he’ll gain full recovery.

Taylor’s surgery was successful without complications. He’s in Pediatric ICU at Harborview for recovery.

The Police Officers, Nurses and Doctors convey being impressed and touched by Taylor, his courage, manners, concern for his Mom and polite patient that he’s been. A Washington State Patrol Officer and one of the King County Officers who were at the scene of the accident brought Taylor gifts, personally delivered them to Taylor’s bedside in the hospital room on Monday. Talk about going the extra-mile.The extension of compassion and support has been very heartwarming.

The causing driver of the collision veered at high speed into the wrong lane and hit Ann’s car head on before she had any chance to act to avoid it.   This driver at fault was immediately arrested for Vehicular Assault with DUI charges pending. A Legal Blood Draw was ordered by Washington State Patrol Officers as there was just cause to suspect he was driving impaired. It’ll be a few weeks until Ann receives reports detailing the criminal investigation.

Christian and Ann are working through this tragedy with admirable poise. It hasn’t deterred their hope and focus on who and what is most important on the path to healing. It's best for all friends and family to take their lead in this overwhelming and highly sensitive situation.

Christian and Ann are "living" at the hospital with Taylor this week. Decisions regarding number of visitors and timing will be made one day at a time. Check back here for updates.
