Something I read recently about people mourning, whether it be a loss, a tragedy or an illness, they become overwhelmed by the offers of "anything you need just call" but they don't call. Instead they downward spiral in pain, depression and loneliness. So the best thing you can do besides pray is don't ask, just do. Whatever is in your heart or whatever God is speaking to you, just do it without asking. While the open ended offer to call in need is sincere and sending money or meals is immensely appreciated, time is the most precious and rare gift that she can receive now.
Tammy underwent surgery on November 8th to have small cell lung cancer removed. Good news is that the cancer was not found in her lymph nodes. Based on my reading, it's Stage IIIA but Tammy or Aunt Donna needs to confirm that. As expected, there is an aggressive treatment plan of chemotherapy and radiation 5 days per week beginning with 6 weeks on, 3 weeks off, 3 weeks on, and so on. As we pray that Tammy's body responds well to the treatment and it does not make her terribly sick, the fact remains that she will need support with transportation, food and most of all, Kara.
My prayer is that today everyone recognizes this time of need and is compelled to help if able. Tammy is a gift of God, and we're called to love and support our brothers and sisters. Donna and Kara need our physical help, our emotional support and unconditional love.
