Dear Family and Friends :

As many of you know, the week of Christmas, mom came down with back issues.... at the time, they were attributed to end of the year and  Christmas rush.... Most of you know how mom likes to make EVERYTHING absolutely perfect for Christmas!  After a few weeks of doctor's appointments etc. that were unable to determine the cause of her pain.  A very dear friend of hers suggested that she go to an orthopedist (who happened to be her son - Thank God for Connections! ).  That appointment led us down a path to discover that mom's pain was actually caused by cancer.

Last week mom was diagnosed with the horrible disease in her lung and in her bones.  Now.... those who know her.... know full well that.... "Cancer makes Rambo look like Mary Poppins!!!" and this lovely southern lady is up for the fight!  We were referred to a wonderful Oncologist and she started her chemo on Tuesday.  Mom has done extremely  well!   This is the first of 4 treatments that she is scheduled to have.   They will be about 21 days apart.  We go next week to determine if the first treatment is the right regimen for her.   She is a super strong woman and we know she will fight through this and win!

We have set up this site to update everyone that we love, and who loves her, on her progress as she goes through her treatment.  However, we want to ask everyone to please not make it a substitute for calling or coming by for a visit.  She loves to talk to each of you and especially likes seeing your "smiling faces".    If you want to go visit, please call to make sure she is "ready to receive visitors".... its a southern thing.   Food is a wonderful thing right now, although her taste buds seem to have taken on a mind of their own.  So, please do not be offended if she elects not to eat your wonderful recipe at the time you bring it.   Her taste buds will eventually cooperate and she will enjoy your yummy treat soon!    Less spice is more and bland is her friend right now!

This is the first journal entry to get everyone on board.  Thank you for your love, support and kindness!  Keep those prayers coming!  Look for the next update on her progress.
