Earlier this year Susie was having sciatic pain, which progressed to significant pain. She had an MRI and it was discovered that she had abnormal bone in several areas and a tumor pressing on her spine. She was admitted to the hospital later that day in July and had emergency surgery to remove one tumor and stabilize her spine. After numerous tests she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. She spent several days in the hospital and since then had been at home recovering. She had begun treatment under direction of an oncologist.
Fast forward to last week, her pain was increasing, likely due to other compression fractures she has in her spine due to the myeloma. She began radiation treatment to try to shrink and treat the tumors and reduce her pain. Unfortunately a few days ago her pain became uncontrollable and she again was admitted to the hospital. She also had a fever and the doctors were very concerned about an infection or sepsis.
As of right now the doctors think that her pain is related to the tumors on her spine. She will remain in the hospital until at least next Tuesday to get the infection under control. She will continue radiation therapy to try to shrink the larger tumor on her spine and alleviate her pain.
Myself, Nathan, and Casey will update everyone on her progress through this website, so please feel free to share with anyone who loves Susie!
