Sue Naranjo

One  year ago I had my mammogram, which was negative, as all mine have been. This year I was putting it off, just out of laziness, but I was on hormone injections which seemed to have stopped working. I was sweating all the time and on my patients, which was unacceptable. I was begging Dr Ponce to increase the dose but she refused until I got my mammogram.

On Friday, July 15th I came home from work after seeing all my patients and I felt pain in my left underarm, as if  I'd pulled a muscle. When I took my bra off, I didn't feel anything under my arm or breast, but something still hurt. I felt again under my breast and all of a sudden felt this huge lump.

Today, as I celebrate 4 years of marriage with my "forever" guy, Anthony Naranjo, I also am facing the most difficult time of my life.
I was diagnosed this morning with invasive breast cancer which has spread to my lymph nodes. I see the Cancer Care team at Kaiser next Thursday. I will be having a mastectomy and chemo, maybe radiation also.
