Steve was diagnosed with rectal cancer in February of 2017, a diagnosis that no one wants to hear. From the start he has taught his family and friends how to accept this with grace, faith and strength. After months of chemo and radiation he underwent surgery in the spring of 2018 to remove the malignant tissue and have a colostomy. It was decided to continue chemo after this surgery, but in mid June due to an intestinal blockage he was admitted to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. A second surgery took place in early July to do an ileostomy and due to both hydration and nutrition issues he has remained under the care of Sanford Hospital.
