Thank you so much for your love and support!  We so appreciate you wanting to check in on Steve and the family.

Here are the basics:

Steve was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (a cancer of the plasma cells) early May, and we're currently in the early stages of treatment.  He's been in the hospital for nearly two weeks, and we're really looking forward to having him home.

The golfball-sized tumor in his back, near T5, grows very rapidly, and therefore is very treatable by radiation.  Radiation treatments will last 10 days.  There is a possibility that the tumor will come back, but the radiation and chemo are meant to keep the cancer at bay for years to come.

Steve will also be undergoing 3-4 courses of chemotherapy over the next few months.  In or around November, he'll have an auto-transplant to replace cancerous bone marrow.

We have a MealTrain set up, so you can help by bringing food if you would like.  The link for that is here: https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/94gdmk

Feel free to write to Alyssa if you have any questions: kapnikfamily@gmail.com.

So much love,
The Kapniks
