We couldn't even have predicted that we would be needing to start a Caring Bridge site barely four months after our joy-filled wedding and truly the best day of our lives.  We also never predicted that Kent would be in Phoenix and Stephannie would be in a Starbucks (well, that part of the story we could predict) in DC when Stephannie received the call from Dr. Mills saying words everyone dreads hearing. "I'm so sorry to tell you, you have cancer."   2016 has been a roller coaster year for us.  The extreme joy of our engagement, wedding season and marriage; the death of Kent's hero and father, Tom Fortune; and now cancer.  We are determined to continue seeking the joy in life and will not let this defeat us.  Faith and attitude are everything!!    We are very certain that God has a plan as we maintain our faith that everything will work out and we will be better people for it!! Your love and support are truly amazing and it feeds our soul!

The reason we are doing this page is that you all are so very kind and have flooded us with beautiful calls, texts, emails and drop by visits which have all been so reassuring and comforting.  Having never gone through anything like this before, Stephannie didn't realize how emotional and a bit overwhelming this would be.  We ask for your patience as we figure out how to navigate this world.  Because we care so much about you, we wanted to find a way to keep you updated.   So here goes with our most up-to-date news...we have an appointment on October 20th with Colorado Springs specialist Dr. Pikard to learn more about the pathology report which will tell us if the cancer has spread and what the treatment will be after surgery.  We will also learn when the surgery will be.  One of the offices told us it could be the first week in November.  We are also very blessed that a very special person helped get an appointment for us at Anschutz Medical Center so we can receive more wise counsel and some of the best treatment in the country.

What we could really use from you are words of encouragement, positive stories, your prayers and most definitely your continued love and support.  We are surrounded by such love and we do not take that for granted.  Please know we will do our very best to keep you in the loop so that you can pray for us and to learn what might be helpful to us along the way.  You are the best!! Thanks for caring so much!
