Skyler Slocum

Thank you for visiting our Skyler's story.  He is an incredible child as all are.  At 18 months old he was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, liver cancer that has metastisized to his lungs.  Sky-bug is a strong toddler who can continually smile and giggle dispite his medications and pain.  I wish I were as strong as he. 



Skyler has been battling on going ear infections.  On January 4th 2010, I took him to his pediatricion thinking that it was a relapse.  He vomitted in the car on the way there.  Didn't  bring a change of clothes because I thought it would be in and out.  The nurses were kind enough to put his clothes in the wash for me while he was being examined.  Good news... no ear infection... but "his stomach is hard..." his dr. says.  I replied... "it's always been like that."  I brought it to their attention before and I guess it wasn't hard enough to be concerned.  She told me i needed to take him to the ER immediately.  I wrapped him in my jacket... it was -20 degrees. Rushed him to Childrens Hospital. They did an ultra sound and found a tumor the size of an egg in his liver.  We did about 17 blood test on him and now waiting for the results.  I don't understand.... it was supposed to be an ear infection.  I have never wished harder for an ear infection.
