In August 2015, Skip was diagnosed with a cancerous pancreatic tumor. For four months, he underwent a series of chemotherapy treatments to attack the cancer. On February, 10th, Skip had a long-anticipated surgery to remove the tumor - along with his gall bladder, parts of his pancreas and stomach, various ducts, etc. It was quite extensive, and was expecting to have at least a week of recovery time in the hospital following the surgery. This is the best life extending opportunity available for pancreatic cancer and only a minority of cases even qualify for the procedure - we are thankful for this extension on his life.

God has been good to us all the way along, but here will be a road yet ahead. God will always bring good out of even bad things, and Skip is experiencing the love of various groups of friends who care about him. Skip has never demanded much from any of us but has been instead a generous giver.  It is good for our character to learn humble dependence upon others and upon God. We treasure the care you have expressed and the prayers you have made on our behalf.
