In October I thought my acidity problem was acting up again. My doctor prescribed 2 weeks of Nexium in September which cured the symptoms. Then they returned aggressively. Eating caused bloating and nausea. Food seemed to stay in my stomach for a long time. My appetite went away and I wouldn’t eat for 24 hours before it came back. I lost 9 lbs in the three weeks. Concerned, I visited my family doctor at Park Nicollet on the morning of 13th November. He scheduled an endoscopy. When I recovered from the sedative, the doctor told me that I have a tumor somewhere in my stomach and it looked cancerous. The biopsy came back on the 17th confirming that I have Gastric Cancer - Adenocarcinoma signet ring cell type.
I have lived a blessed life. I am going to fight this cancer with the help of my family and friends. If you are reading this you are part of team #BeatIT. I am fortunate enough to have access to the best health care system at Mayo Clinic. I will start my Chemo next week. I will update this frequently.
