On Tuesday May 30th, Scott finally decided a trip to urgent care was in order.  He just had not been feeling himself and was very tired.  After a day in urgent care he was told he was super anemic, and needed a blood transfusion.  He was encouraged to go to the hospital Tuesday evening.  Of course, he needed to make provisions for Amos first in case he was detained  over night.  Weds. 5/31/17, Scott took Amos to Fido's farm.  Amos loves  it  there and they love having him.  Scott arrived at the hospital at 5:30 AM.   After 23 x-rays and one bone marrow scan in the hip, he received a blood transfusion. Scott celebrated his 58th birthday on Thursday 6/1/17, and the 2 year anniversary of his job with the Washington State Patrol, as Deputy State Fire Marshall for Hazardous Materials, waiting for answers...where was all his blood going?   We received the diagnosis - ALL - Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  A birthday present with a big challenge and journey ahead.  By Friday morning, friends had sent  me a schedule to take care of Petey until his dog sitter Heather could take over on Tuesday 6/6/17, and to get on a plane.  I immediately made a one-way reservation for Saturday.  So here we are, at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Lacey (Olympia) WA, fighting this battle together.   Scott had the option of  receiving treatment here or going to the University of WA in Seattle. We chose to remain here in Olympia, since the treatment is the same in both  locations.  The  hospital is about 20 minutes from his apartment, which is convenient.  I  am adjusting to driving his truck (and I'm liking it!).

What is ALL?  https://www.cancer.org/cancer/acute-lymphocytic-leukemia/about/what-is-all.html

Acute - meaning comes on suddenly and progresses quickly

Lymphocytic - means it develops from early (immature) forms of  lymphocytes which are a type of white blood cell.

Leukemia - definition - a malignant progressive disease in which the bone marrow and other blood-forming organs produce increased numbers of immature or abnormal leukocytes. These suppress the production of normal blood cells, leading to anemia and other symptoms.
