Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting!

In mid-July, Sarah came down with a respiratory infection that led doctors to do a chest X-ray which not only showed that she had a touch of pneumonia but also a small mass in her upper right lung.  After a CT scan, a PET scan, and a biopsy it has been confirmed that Sarah has stage 3 squamous cell cancer.   The tumor in her lung is cancerous and it has likely spread to some of the lymph nodes close by as well.

She will begin  chemotherapy as well as radiation.  When radiation begins in a few days it will be everyday Monday through Friday for six weeks.  She will go once a week for chemo where they will put her on a drip for several hours.  We will meet with doctors again next week to go over everything before treatment begins.

As many of you know, in May,  just a couple of months before finding out about Sarah's illness we had just made some major decisions and transitions for a long term living arrangement that seemed best for Sarah.  We (Tyson and Gina) found a home with adequate living space for our family and Sarah too.  We all moved to our new home and living arrangement at the end of May.  Given our new reality, we are so thankful that we made this decision and see God's hand in the timing of it.  Sarah loves her new home and space as it is peaceful, warm, and she has us right here with her all the time.

She is handling this news of her illness with great courage and faith.  We are proud of her, and know she will need the love and support of her family and friends as she goes through the challenges and difficulty of cancer treatment.  We plan to update this page regularly and would love any notes of prayers and encouragement that we could share with her on a regular basis.    We are including more information on the "ways to help" page too.

Thank you so much!

Love,

Sarah's family
