Josh Zuercher and Leslye Ragsdale were engaged to be married on April 2, 2016. Days after her final fitting for her wedding dress the nagging cough she couldn't shake was suddenly accompanied by shortness of breath so she made a routine appointment with her doctor.
This routine appointment resulted in her being sent to the emergency room, the removal of 1.5 liters of fluid from her lung cavity (pleural effusion, not pneumonia) the discovery of two masses in her chest ... and agonizing wait for a diagnosis began. Leslye received a diagnosis of Hodgkin's lymphoma on February 17, 2016. They decided to move the wedding up to February 28 for multiple reasons (insurance, a wedding with the bride still having her beautiful red hair...).
